Dentures – Post Op (Recovery)

You may be wondering about the post-op or recovery expectations.   This could be a two-step process.  If extractions are done, it can take up to 8 weeks or possibly longer from start, for some patients to recover.

Once you have completely healed and the dentures are in place, you will have an adjustment period to become comfortable and used to your new teeth.  Even though you should be able to speak quite normally within a few hours, you could experience some minor discomfort while chewing or eating.  This adjustment period could last for a few days up to a few weeks.  It would be to your advantage and is recommended that patients with new dentures eat soft foods until you become comfortable with the chewing process.

What about possible complications?  There aren’t any known complications from the use of dentures.
